Roing, Sep 27, 2018: In celebration of World Tourism Day, the Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators’ Association, in collaboration with the Tourism Department, organized an enlightening orientation program on ‘Homestay Hospitality and Rural Tourism’ at Mishmi Hill Camp in Ezengo village.
The event featured an inspiring address from Everester Tine Mena, who encouraged the youth, especially young women, to explore tourism as a viable source of income and self-sustainability. She highlighted the ease of starting homestays as a practical means of livelihood, emphasizing, "We have so much to offer to tourists, who are drawn to our district's natural beauty, tradition, and culture."
DIPRO N Namchoom advised aspiring homestay operators on the importance of providing cost-effective services and maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness to attract tourists. "Maintaining good hygiene and cleanliness is also important to attract tourists," she stated, stressing the role of cleanliness in tourism success.
Neharika Sehgal Umbrey from Roing-based A1 Travel Management provided detailed insights on the procedures and steps required to establish a successful homestay facility. Her guidance was instrumental in demystifying the process for participants eager to embark on this entrepreneurial journey.
The program also included group activities designed to enhance the practical skills of homestay operators, conducted under the expert guidance of Umbrey and Joho Tayu. These activities fostered teamwork and provided hands-on experience in homestay management.
CO Olik Apang also graced the event, supporting the initiative to boost local tourism through community engagement and sustainable practices.
The orientation program successfully empowered participants with the knowledge and skills needed to capitalize on the region’s tourism potential, marking World Tourism Day 2018 with a commitment to fostering sustainable tourism and economic growth in Arunachal Pradesh.
